Change Your Habits Change Your Destiny

“Good Habits are as addicting as bad habits- and a lot more rewarding.”

Harvey McKay

Experts say to break a habit you need to replace it with a different habit- or you stand a pretty high chance you will slide right back to the old one. Ideally you want to replace a bad habit with a good one – meaning it gives you energy instead of sucking it out of you!

What are ten simple pleasures you could put into place you would actually look forward to doing?

Imagine-

  • sitting in silence for 15 minutes every morning before you rush off to face your day
  • choosing to eat more slowly and actually savoring the experience of dining
  •  going to bed earlier than you normally do
  • taking a walk

What have you been telling yourself you “need” to be doing which you could replace with an intentional choice to slow down and savor the moment?

Brainstorm with yourself or a friend for ideas, but don’t make your list a collection of “shoulds” ! If they have been on your list yet continually remain un-done, perhaps they are really not all that important.

I should-

  • exercise
  •  floss my teeth every day
  • visit my in-laws more often
  • eat more vegetables

Consider what will enrich you and bring more meaning to your life.

It will be different for everyone. It might be hard to start

It may change your life.

Just start. Try it. Be Bold. Gather a list of 10, or 3 – something. Incremental change.

How do habits predict the future?  Albert Einstein said it well-

Albert Einstein

“Insanity: Doing the same thing  over and over and expecting different results”

Keep doing it the same, you get the same results. Change it up- expect something different!

Would love to hear your thoughts- we grow and learn from each other! The best part of the Simply Abundant Community is connecting with each other- and you are invited to be a part of the conversation.

  • What are some of the “shoulds” you keep on your list ?
  • What would it take to kick them off the list and replace the energy drainers with life  joy givers?
